Roommate of the Month for February 2018

In this day and age where there’s the Internet and most of us can’t get our hands off of our smart phones, access to information have become prevalent and instant. However, along with the fast exchange of opinions and discoveries, comes the quick spreading of misinformation and exaggeration as well; which makes it a tad difficult to trust certain takes and assessments online especially when it’s about personal care and beauty products. That is why, now more than ever, we should be extremely cautious about the information that we accept. Luckily, there are bloggers like Kamille King of, whose niche and honest product reviews are fitting for all the ladies who are also curious and passionate about beauty products!     Read more about her beauty blogging journey below:

1. Tell us about you and your blog.
Hi! I am Kamille King, just like most girls, I freak out every time there is a newly launched skincare or makeup line on the market. I always had the desire to try all the holy-grail beauty products, and get first dibs on the newest ones—to the point where spending for beauty products had become a habit. My blog is where I share my passion for beauty by writing my thoughts and experiences about the products that I have accumulated and tried.
2. When did you start your blog and what inspired you to create one?
I started my beauty blog back in August 2017, although I have been in the blogosphere since 2013. I used to blog about my day to day experiences privately, until I finally decided to get my own domain (and tick off my bucket list). Since almost everyone’s advice was to have a niche, I decided to go after beauty blogging since I’ve owned up tons of beauty products which I wanted to share my knowledge with other girls (and guys) who are interested in it, and possibly be of any help to them especially on deciding which ones are worth spending for.
3. Who are the bloggers that you look up to?
Hang T. Nguyen of WWW.HANGTW.COM is my most favorite blogger. Although Hang is a lifestyle blogger, I admire how she was able to maintain her consistency in writing blog posts even when she had her day job. Her blogs also gave me so much inspiration to live vibrantly and to embrace life!
4. Top 3 pieces of advice you can give to our roommates who are interested to start up a blog.
If you have been wanting to start a blog, start now! You don’t need to have the fanciest theme, nor to buy a domain right away. Everyone started as a beginner. You can blog through free blogging sites. Just maximize all your resources, and you’ll eventually get a hit. There will be times when you will feel unmotivated and uninspired to write. It is okay to take a break for a while—don’t quit! Have a niche. Write on topics/posts that you personally know about and/or things that you‘ve experienced first-hand.

1. Share with us your skincare routine!
When I hit my 20’s, I started noticing that my pores were becoming more visible; that was also the time when k-drama became such a big hype, hence, k-beauty! I tried following the 10-step Korean skincare regimen—and guess what? After a few weeks, my pores became tighter. I also noticed that my skin became smoother and more radiant. So from then on, I have been trying to religiously follow the routine. My skincare routine is mainly composed of: Double cleansing—a good oil cleanser and a face wash; face scrub & lip scrub which I only use once a week; toner; face mask—which I only apply twice a week; essence; serum; eye cream; moisturizer. Sometimes when I feel like doing the whole regimen is much of a chore, or when I am feeling under the weather to do my skin care; I make sure that I still do the basics—cleansing and moisturizing—essence, toner, serum and eye cream.
2. How about your makeup routine?
I always go with simple makeup on a daily basis, as I believe that a good skin care does wonders. I start with primer to minimize or blur my pores. Do my brows since kilay is life. Use concealer to hide my dark under eyes. Apply a bit of contour, and a pinkish blush on that looks natural on my skin tone to mimic a healthy glow. Then, cap my look with lip balm or lipstick.
3. What are the top 5 beauty products (skincare and makeup) that you can't live without?
1. Essence 2. Eye Cream 3. Concealer 4. Eyebrow Powder/Gel/Pencil 5. Lip Balm/Lipstick

1. When did you first find out about Sample Room?
I first found out about Sample Room during its official media launch back in 2016. Sample Room was all over Facebook/Instagram back then, though it was only last year that I started my sampling journey with them.
2. How did Sample Room help you in your journey into the world of skincare and makeup?
Through Sample Room’s advocacy of “try before you buy”, I was able to first-handedly try products that weren’t then familiar to me, and products that are just new to the market—for FREE. Thus, Sample Room had opened a lot of beauty related opportunities to me while saving cents.
3. What were your best finds that you discovered through our site?
I have been in love and have been using the Vitress Hair Solutions: Vitress Hair Polish, Vitress Heat Protect Cuticle Coat and Vitress Hair Freshener which I wrote more about here. Johnson’s Milk + Oats Baby Lotion which I wrote more about here was also a favorite of mine.

4. Do you see yourself still sampling in Sample Room in 3-5 years?
Definitely, yes! Ever since I started my sampling journey with Sample Room, checking in on their social media has become a habit. Now, Sample Room also serves as my go-to platform to check and to get updates whether there’s a new product that’s been launched in the market or that’s available for sampling.
5. Any advice for your fellow roommates for their sampling journey?
Whether or not you’re already registered with Sample Room, you must check their site out—it’ll help you save a lot of cash, especially if you’re a young adult like me. Sample Room offers a wide array of (not only) beauty products from shampoo to soap, to cosmetics, even baby and household products. Stocks at Sample Room are limited so consider turning your notifications ON on their Instagram so you’ll be alerted once there are new products open for sampling. Sample Room is a sampling site open to anyone—even if you don’t own a blogging platform. Registration is FREE and all products listed are FREE for everyone to try!   Are you also passionate about sharing your experiences? Like Kamille, you can also start your own blog! Be it for personal reasons or like her, whose goal it to help empower other people in terms of choosing the right products and who knows you might become our next roommate of the month? Share your fave Sample Room finds and latest product experiences with us by using our hashtag #RoommateOfTheMonth, #SampleRoomSpotlight and #SampleRoomPH for a chance to get featured as our Roommate of the Month for March!
