Roommate of the Month for March 2018

People, on a daily basis, have lots of things running through their minds that sometimes, they fail to do what they want and express what they feel– whether it’s about choosing the perfect dress for a bright sunny day, the right words to confess your feelings to with someone, and the confidence to grow and show your true self. But with great motivation and a strong passion to learn and share her experiences, Theresa Martinez, our March #RoommateOfTheMonth did just that-- she discovered her personal niche and passion through writing; and through her blog, she's able to express, share her stories, and be in touch with her true self while also inspiring others to do the same.     Let’s get to know more about this lovely mommy-slash-teacher-slash-blogger behind the “Cute and Dainty” blog as she answers a few questions from us!   ABOUT THERESA’S BLOG 1. Tell us about you and your blog. “Hello! I'm Theresa. I'm a teacher by profession and a blogger from Pampanga. I'm a first-time mom to a very cute boy. I blogged mostly during my free time despite being busy with mommy duties. I believe I am really passionate in blogging because I find myself forcing to wake up at three in the morning just to write. My blog mainly covers product reviews on skincare and cosmetics. I also created a mommy blog recently and shared all my mommy experiences there.”   2. When did you start your blog and what inspired you to create one? “Writing is actually my hobby and I like expressing myself by means of writing. Back in 2009 when I was waiting for the result of my board exam, I bummed for a while and my day consisted of reading blogs. I got interested and decided to create one. It was a trial and error at first and eventually, I decided to stick to the niche I think I will express myself well. That's when I decided to create a beauty blog.”   3. Who are the bloggers that you look up to? “I started reading Miss Liz of projectvanity.com , Miss Nikki of askmewhats and Miss Martha of thebeautyjunkee. I love how they look glamorously and they're so humble in person.”   4. Top 3 pieces of advice you can give to our roommates who are interested to start up a blog. “1. Write to express and not to impress. 2. Know why you want to do it and let it inspire you. 3. Be creative. You don't need sophisticated tools for your flatlays or shoots. I actually use our natural environment in shooting products. I use plants, our front porch, our tiles, among others for backgrounds or design.”     ON HER BEAUTY ROUTINE 1. Share with us your skincare routine! “I always double cleanse. I follow it with toner, essence, serum, eye cream, moisturizer and sunblock. I exfoliate 2-3x a week and use mask whenever I can. I also use mist when I'm on the go to moisturize despite having your makeup on. :)”   2. How about your makeup routine? “It's always the "I Woke Up Like This' look. Very natural-looking. I mainly use primer, cushion, concealer, eyebrow pencil, blush, and lipstick. When I feel it, I put on highlighter. :)”   3. What are the top 5 beauty products (skincare and makeup) that you can't live without? “Moisturizer, mask, eyeliner, lipstick and concealer.”     ABOUT HER SAMPLE ROOM JOURNEY 1. When did you first find out about Sample Room? “I can't even remember! I believe I discovered it when it was still new and I registered an account immediately. The rest is history.”   2. How did Sample Room help you in your journey into the world of skincare and makeup? “Sample Room introduced me to new products and even to those products I didn't seem to like but made me try to do so.”   3. What were your best finds that you discovered through our site? “A lot! I can't even name them as it will take me forever. But recently, I'm loving Belo for kids (wipes, cologne, etc.) and Belo sunblocks.”

  4. Do you see yourself still sampling in Sample Room in 3-5 years? “Definitely! I see myself supporting Sample Room until the end.”   5. Any advice for your fellow roommates for their sampling journey? “Be patient. Others are saying that their points were returned very late. It may take a long time but I'm telling you, it's all gonna be worth it! :)”     Truly it is that this pen-and-paper hobby requires passion, focus, and strength, but like Theresa, believe that you can express anything by writing, no matter how good or bad they were.
