OCTOBER 13 ROOMMATE OF THE MONTH

Roommate Of The Month for September 2019

If you’re a creature of habit, jumping into something you have never done before can rock your world and send you into a momentary whirlwind. But life is full of experiences we ought to try. Doing new things will come naturally if we keep our doors open to new influences and opportunities.

For someone who wants to keep it low-maintenance and didn’t indulge much on beauty products back then, our September #RoommateOfTheMonth, Shiela Fernando suddenly finds herself as a part-time hair and makeup artist years after. What once was something she can't imagine doing is now something she can’t live without! It’s crazy how life play sometimes, right?!

Let’s hear more from this dashing lady and get to know her story as she answers a few questions from us!

  ABOUT SHIELA
  1. Tell us about you and your love for beauty.

“I grew up not caring so much about how I look. I actually hated lipsticks so much because honestly, they don’t look good on my dark lips. Until I entered college and needed to look presentable cause of my OJT. I started getting hooked with doing my brows, and people around me kept on complimenting me of how good I do them. From then on, I started learning to do a full-face makeup through watching makeup vlogs. Would you believe I’m actually a part-time HMUA now?! Crazy! Who would have thought, right? The one thing I thought I hated the most would be the one I think I couldn’t live without! Oh well. The more you hate, the more you love, I guess?”

  1. When did you start and what inspired you to share your beauty finds on your social media accounts?

“I really can’t tell when did I start sharing my beauty finds on my social media accounts, but I’m sure I was inspired by my friends and colleagues telling me that I’m a good “influencer” to them. Even before I started creating IG contents, most of my friends and officemates would buy what makeup and skincare products I buy and would usually ask for my opinion before purchasing anything beauty related. It made me think, “maybe I can help and influence more people with my personal experiences?”

  1. Who are the bloggers that you look up to?

“Ate Rai!!! Definitely, Raiza Contawi. And then there’s also Bretman Rock and Jeffree Star.”

ON HER BEAUTY ROUTINE
  1. Share with us your skincare routine!

“I don’t have a regular skincare routine, but here’s what I usually do at night:

  • Cleanse using Happy Skin’s Perfect Clean Ultrasonic Cleansing Device and Skin Soothing Gel Facial Wash
  • Double cleanse using Garnier Micellar Water
  • Moisturize using Centellian 24 Madeca Derma and Olay Regenerist Whip

I also do facemask at least once or twice a week after cleansing.”

  1. How about your makeup routine?

“Here’s my daily makeup routine: Cleanse, apply moisturizer, apply brow pomade, apply foundation, do my brows (after the pomade has dried up), concealer (for that brow on fleek!), blush, put on a setting powder, do my eyeliner (when I’m in the mood), do my mascara, highlighter, then lipstick!”

  1. What are the top 5 beauty products (skincare and makeup) that you can't live without?

“My top 5 are:

  • Definitely eyebrow pencils!
  • Happy Skin’s Ultrasonic Cleansing Device (honestly changed my cleansing life!!!)
  • Moisturizer
  • Lipsticks!!!
  • Highlighter”
