Roommate of the Month for May 2020

Whether you’re a student, an office worker, or a stay at home mom – we all need a break from our everyday routine and lifestyle. And having an outlet like in social media or blogging/vlogging can give us the distraction and creative output we need.

Our May Roommate of the Month, Divine Tria started blogging over 10 years. What started as an online diary for Divine, eventually became an avenue for her to express her love for beauty and skincare that allowed her to become more comfortable and confident in her own skin.

Read on and get to know more Divine’s story!

  1. Tell us about you and your blog.

“I'm a person who loves to multi-task a lot just to keep myself busy and feel productive every day. I'm always curious about anything and fond of trying new things. My blog primarily tells about my story outside my profession. How a Dietitian who talks about food a lot becomes interested to skincare, makeup and other things outside my professional field. It’s my personal beauty journey - how I finally understand my own skin and be confident about it - and some personal lifestyle ventures that my readers can get information from and interest with.”

  1. When did you start your blog and what inspired you to create one?

“Blogging become part of me back when I was in high school in 2009. I started it as an online diary with my friend and continued to do it until today as it become my escape to vent and share my interest in beauty and fashion. In 2018, I finally settled and decided to create a niche with my blog.”

  1. Who are the bloggers that you look up to?

“I got different bloggers who influence me a lot and inspires me to find my own niche.

Ayesha Heart for lifestyle blogging is my first influencer inspo since day one, who taught me a lot and still gives me advice every now and then. I also look up to Kenny Manalad for makeup and beauty blogging, Rhea Bue for fashion blogging.”

  1. Top 3 pieces of advice you can give to our roommates who are interested to start up a blog.

“1. Blogging is like soul-searching. You have to try everything first before you can finally see what your niche is, or what things you're really passionate about.

  1. Don't think too much, just do it now. Don't wait for that perfect timing because it will never happen unless you start working for it.
  2. Aim to teach. While sharing your thoughts or opinion about certain things or ideas, always remember to make it true and honest. Because most of the people are searching for a solution to their problem - it may be about health, beauty, or life itself. So blog to teach, and help others to learn.”

  1. Share with us your skincare routine!

“My skincare routine is just simple, quick and easy which is very convenient for my lifestyle. A good facial soap and moisturizer like BBA Whipp Soap and Olay Natural White Ageless Aura as moisturizing cream is enough for me.  Sometimes I use St. Ives Acne Control Apricot Facial Scrub to exfoliate my skin and Crazy Skin Crazy! Lifting Face Mask + Eye Cream to hydrate my face and take good care of my under eyes.”

  1. How about your makeup routine?

“Since my work involves being around food, wearing heavy makeup is not allowed. So I stick with a face powder and lip tint to keep me colored and fresh during work hours.”

  1. What are the top 5 beauty products (skincare and makeup) that you can't live without?

“1. Crazy Skin Crazy! Lifting Face Mask + Eye Cream

  1. Olay Natural White Ageless Aura
  2. Blooming Beauty by Audrey Gluta-Cows Milk Body Lotion with Snail Filtrate SPF 50+
  3. Milku Underarm Deo Powder
  4. Ellana Matte Lipstick or Organic Lip and Cheek Tint”

  1. When did you first find out about Sample Room?

“When some of the bloggers that I followed start doing their reviews about the products they get for free in Sample Room, I got really interested. It was back in 2017, the same year when I started to blog again. I finally signed up for it, created an account and then got my first 100 points and started reviewing the products I got.”

  1. How did Sample Room help you in your journey into the world of skincare and makeup?

“Sample Room helped me a lot. It’s my stepping stone in making beauty reviews and writing beauty content for my blog. Through Sample Room, it somehow felt like I was receiving a PR box and I enjoy unboxing it in my social media accounts.”

  1. What were your best finds that you discovered through our site?

“Crazy Skin Crazy! Lifting Face Mask + Eye Cream is my favorite because it is a 2-in-1 mask and eye cream. Olay Natural White Ageless Aura is another product that I am still currently using to the date ever since I tried it from Sample Room. Both these products work well for me so it became my fave and is now a part of my must-haves.”

  1. Do you see yourself still sampling in Sample Room in 3-5 years?

“Definitely, YES! It may also take more years than 5 because here, you get free samples to try, it enhances my writing skills in reviewing products, and I felt at home because I found people who have the same interests as me.”

  1. Any advice for your fellow roommates for their sampling journey?

“Be true to yourself and to your fellow roommates especially when it comes to reviewing products. Your review might be their baseline and/or key points to encourage them in trying the products for themselves. While being true to yourself, showing off your creativity and authenticity will also help you garner audience and it might also help you become the next Roommate of the Month.”
