This April, a strong, independent woman such as Kylene Kyla Abad shows us how she manages to balance being a part-time Biology student, content creator and an artist! If you think being a Doc-in-the-making is hard enough on its own, Kylene definitely goes above and beyond as she flourishes in her chosen field, while still maintaining her style as a content creator and artist! She strongly believes that she will be able to reap the benefits of putting in her maximum efforts in whatever she does, and because of this, she has definitely started climbing the ladder of success in her passions.
ABOUT KYLENE:
1. Tell us about you and your vlog.
- I am Kylene, a woman with big dreams and a strong desire to succeed. I am a sophomore medical biology student and a content creator. I currently work part-time in an office, model for photoshoots, and my hobbies include art, makeup, poetry, graphic design, and photography. From 5th grade until high school, I was a photojournalist for our campus's newspaper. I was also a member of the poetry club in senior high school, and my skills in digital arts grew as I looked at different types of digital art, which inspired me to learn it. My content is usually about beauty, skincare, and personal care. I love sharing my thoughts about the products I use to inform and recommend to my family, friends and audiences good quality products.
2. When did you start your vlog and what inspired you to create one?
- I just started as an instagram content creator this year. I have been observing how various content creators interact with and share their thoughts with their audiences. The opportunity to review and share my thoughts on products motivated me to embark on a journey of creating content about a variety of products.
3. Who are the vloggers that you look up to?
- The vloggers I really love are Bretman Rock and NikkieTutorials. They are beauty vloggers that I watch in my free time because they have such great content and a pleasing personality. Both of them are known for just being themselves, and they show and inform their audiences through different tutorials and reviews of makeup brands.
4. Top 3 pieces of advice you can give to our roommates who are interested to start up a social media platform?
- Just believe in yourself that you can and will achieve anything you want. Confidence is one of the most important things about presenting yourself on social media. Let your creativity juices come in when trying to make new content with different products to be interesting to your audiences.
5. How are you able to balance your personal life, professional career, and being a content creator?
- In all honesty, it is very difficult to balance everything within my personal life, academics, career and being a content creator. As a pre-med student, I prioritize my studies. Studying in college is exhausting sometimes because of the tons of schoolwork and activities. Time management and motivation are the keys to balancing everything. I have a tracker on my things to-do so I don’t miss my deadlines for schoolwork and work. I remind myself to trust the process of everything I am working hard on because I know it will soon be worth it. Thinking of the outcome of my hard work inspires me to never give up and keep going.
ABOUT HER CREATIVE PROCESS:
1. What's your inspiration for every social media and vlog post?
- I am inspired by my co-content creators because whenever I see a content creator like me, it gives me an idea of what content I should post next, so I can also share it with my friends and family. Also, I am doing what I love, which is skincare and makeup, which motivates me to love posting content.
2. What makes your page or vlog different from other creators? What is your goal and objective with your platform/s?
- What makes me unique from other creators is that I am very honest about my reviews and thoughts about the products I share on my platforms. My goal is to showcase and inform my audience about the products. By sharing it through my platforms, I can help them gain insights about the product.
3. How do you make sure that you stick to your original goal as your platforms grow?
- I make sure that I have a focused mindset to make my platforms grow. I will remain consistent in what kind of content I share with my audiences, so they will know what to expect from me and what I share. I want to be a trustworthy content creator, so I try to improve what I share.
4. What did you learn or is continuously learning as you venture deeper in the digital world?
- In the digital world, there are numerous opportunities to learn and grasp as you progress further into your explorations. Venturing on the internet is the fastest way to communicate with people around the world and search for information through browsing different social media networks. We have to be careful about what we post online, but we can make use of this digital world to socialize and learn many things.
ABOUT HER ROUTINE:
1. Share with us your skincare routine!
- My skincare routine usually starts when I wake up to wash my face using Celeteque Dermoscience Hydration Facial Wash, Skin1004’s Centella Toning Toner and then I use Hayejin Blessing of Sprout Serum to hydrate and moisturize my face. I also use the St. Ives Glowing Sheet Mask and Nature Republic’s Aloe Vera Gel on my skin to make it look fresh and healthy every day.
2. How about your makeup routine?
- My makeup routine starts with a primer and a tinted sunscreen to protect my skin against the heat. Frequently, I use a small amount of foundation and concealer on my skin to look fresh going out. I also love putting on eyeliner, blush, and natural pink lipstick. Lastly, I use a setting spray for my makeup to last the whole day.
3. What are the top 5 beauty products (skincare and makeup) that you can't live without?
- My top 5 beauty products I can never live without are sunscreen, facial wash, concealer, matte lipsticks and eyebrow pencil.
ABOUT HER SAMPLE ROOM JOURNEY:
1. When did you first find out about Sample Room?
- I was browsing through my instagram and found the sample room page. It was through my co-content creator that I found out that you can try products for free! - It was a great opportunity for me so I registered and checked out my first sample room products.
2. How did Sample Room help you in your journey into the world of skincare and makeup?
- Sample Room helped me to learn how to post and write reviews about different products. Through trying and reviewing different products, I was able to learn how I could post and inform honest and great thoughts to my family, friends, and audiences.
3. What were your best finds that you discovered through our site?
- My favorite finds are St. Ives Glowing Sheet Mask and Dr. Coco Hand Soap. Both were great products that I use on a daily basis.
4. Do you see yourself still sampling in Sample Room in 3-5 years?
- Yes! I can also recommend and refer Sample Room through my family and friends in the future. This is a great platform that helped me to try different products.
5. Any advice for your fellow roommates on their sampling journey?
- Just be yourself whenever you give product reviews. It's important that your reviews are interesting, creative, and genuine. If you want others to be interested in and enjoy the product you tried, be sure to write an excellent review about it.
